Consent - Essay Example In this sense it is meant that the review should be constructed in such a manner that the researcher/researchers can either use it as a stand-alone published material that can assist other researchers with similar topical considerations in their own research or the researcher/researchers can use the review exclusively as an assisting part of their own research on the topic. This brings out the importance of literature review that is possibly more important a part of the initial research strategy than any other part of such initial research. Choice of Topic - The first consideration that a researcher or group of researchers must take into account is the choice of topic. For this, they may first scrutinize the subject they are studying and thresh out a topical part that has scope for research the researchers themselves feel they are competent enough to carry out. It is notable that this is the very initial step to beginning an earnest literature review (Reed, Undated). The choice of a suitable topic may constitute the following steps - Brainstorming - This is process with which the researcher scans the subject he/she is studying currently to pinpoint a topic within that subject he/she may want to research upon. Within this process the subject is broken down into its topical components and basic keywords are derived from these. For example, as in this case, where the subject is taken to be 'information within the healthcare system', some of the topical interests that may get unearthed are as follows: Acquisition of such information; Storage of such information; Retrieval of such information; Ethics regarding retrieval; etc. Next, books, journal articles and other resources that have been recommended for these topics within the main study subject are next scrutinized and studied to ensure which of these topics may be the most suitable for research. Some of the criteria with which this is judged may be as follows: if there is any scope for further research within any of these topics; and whether such research can be easily carried out with the resources and facilities that are presently available with the researchers. In this manner a topic is settled upon on which the researchers decide they want to do research. The topic has scope for further research and the research type is suitable for being conducted by the researchers, who consider themselves capable of it. The topic settled upon in this case is 'Ethical issues regarding retrieval of healthcare information available from storage'. Consultation with the Instructor/Professor - Another adjacent step to brainstorming to settle upon the research topic is consultation with the instructor ort professor in charge of the discipline the researchers are incumbent upon. Often, these able persons are capable of making valuable suggestions that allow the research to proceed smoothly and efficiently. Researching Background Information - After a topic suitable for conducting research upon has been selected, the next logical step is to find background information on it from resources like

Professional Development - Essay Example In addition, they should be able to set their objectives and strategies to achieve their targets. Therefore, students who are undertaking engineering courses should learn these skills during and after studies to perfect their careers (Blandford, 2012, p.47). Communication barrier and inability to plan their work and interact with others may paralyze the achievement in their targets. Communication Engineers interact with different people during their ordinary activities (Ritchie, 2007, 164). Therefore, they should possess different skills for sharing knowledge with their colleagues and clients in order to increase their work efficiency (Kalman, 2008, p. 156). I have interacted with my fellow students as their group leader during various discussions. I also chair various meetings with fellow engineers at different levels. In addition, I compile technical reports regarding various issues we discuss in our group meetings. This has equipped me with relevant skills for gathering informatio n and giving immediate response questions posed by group members. My weakness is in presenting those reports to my colleagues. I aspire to learn various techniques of addressing meetings using different presentation skills. I will achieve this by learning gradually from others and enriching my vocabularies and by requesting my colleagues to challenge me with questions regarding the presentations I make (Baillie and Moore, 2004, p. 181). Group activities are equipping students on various ways of acquiring information and addressing various issues which may affect their profession (Ritchie, 2007, 158). Therefore, this will help me to learn how interact with my colleagues effectively. Working with Others Engineers should be able to handle issues arising at work place. Therefore, since they deal with individuals from different background such as clients and workers, they should be able to reconcile them whenever there is a disagreement (Blandford, 2012, p.49). During training, they shou ld be able to share their ideas and respect views of others (Baillie, and Moore, 2004, p.182). So during group discussions, I share my views and argue decisively to influence my colleagues to side with my decisions. This is essential because, later in our profession some contractors may opt to use cheap materials to save cost. However, with these skills, I will be able to convince them apply appropriate process in order to produce quality work and balance with cost of providing quality work. In our discussion group, I always try to convince my colleagues to listen to my views (Baillie and Moore, 2004, p.178). Iââ¬â¢m able to control my discussion group by resolving all disagreements. During our group discussions, I sometimes impose my suggestions on others and seek their support. By leading my fellow students in school, I have acquired skills to manage contractors and other workers as professional engineer. The major predicaments I have encountered as group leader is where group members have differing opinions from others. Sometimes none of those opinions seems to be right or wrong. Therefore, it becomes tough to create mutual agreement under such circumstances. Such issues may require additional time to look for amicable solution, which incorporates suggestions of each member. Improving Own Learning and Performance Engineers should be acquiring knowledge from time to time to ensure they keep abreast with emerging

Decline in sales at Fischer Holmes
Decline in sales at Fischer Holmes 1.0 Introduction: 1.0.1 Purpose and Background: The purpose of this report is to determine the cause of the decline in sales at Fischer Holmes and to recommend possible solutions to the prevalent problems. This report is in response to the declining sales of the last 8 months. By compiling data gathered from psychological tests undertaken by sales staff over the same periods in the past 4 years and comparing this with the sales figures of the respective periods, we have come up a graph shown in appendix 1.The graph indicates a direct relation with the morale of the sales staff and the decline in sales. The drop in morale seems to have started when FH underwent company-wide restructuring a year ago. This restructuring led to untrained sales agents gaining promotion to sales manager. 1.0.2 Scope: Discuss and analyze each problem individually: How and why the specific problems have occurred. Recommendations will also be discussed individually per problem: What will recommend needs to be done to rectify the problem. 1.0.3 Methodology: Observe the work area and how personnel interact with each other. Examine all personnel records and employment histories of sales staff. Conduct interviews and psychological evaluations with sales personnel. 2.0Background: Name of company, purpose, year established, countries which it operates in. 3.0 Results and Recommendations: 3.1 Downward Communication 3.1.0Problems: The problems we have encountered include poor downward communication in general from sales managers to agents and also poor downward communication by managers during team meetings. 3.1.1Analysis: From the collection of data we, as a company, hypothesize that the promotion of these managers without appropriate management skills and training has resulted in a lack of concern and care for their subordinates. Further to this, it has been discovered that managers are predominantly using fear to generate desired sales. This becomes apparent in team meetings, where the managers clear lack of managerial competence becomes obvious through the agents forcefulness towards sales staff in an attempt to make more sales. Psychological data gathered shows that sales agents morale is at their lowest after team meetings. We further theorize that this overall negative attitude of several sales managers has resulted in lack of motivation and increase of absenteeism amongst the sales agents; which has led to their dismal performances. 3.1.2Recommendations: We have come up with a number of solutions to combat these workplace problems and have compiled them in a list as follows: Conduct an in-depth analysis of the sales managers current skills to determine their managerial traits and ability to lead a sales team. We Recommend that those found fit will undergo individual coaching by People Bridge and those found unfit will attend a comprehensive management skills training workshop and will also undergo individual coaching. Conduct meeting facilitation workshop focusing on creating an agenda and motivation of a sales team. Have a ââ¬Å"People Bridgeâ⬠consultant sit in during the first few sales team meetings as a follow-up step. All sales managers will undergo communication skills workshop. Have all managers join Toastmasters Clubs in their area as a follow-up on communication skills training. 3.2 Upward Communication 3.2.0 Problem: Another main problem we have encountered is the poor upward communication by sales agents who have not been submitting their sales reports to their sales managers and also the poor upward communication by sales managers in submitting ââ¬Å"guessworkâ⬠reports to higher management. 3.2.1 Analysis: From conducting this investigation, People Bridge hasfound that sales managers do not have concern for the importance of the data provided in their agents sales reports. We have observed that sales managers seldom require their agents to submit their reports. In a survey conducted on the sales agents, we found that 89% of the agents did not know the proper format of a sales report and that 76% did not know that they were required to submit a sales report. We have also observed that FH does not utilize a contact resource management (CRM) system.YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN WHAT A CRM IS AND WHAT IT DOES!!! We further theorize that sales managers will often submit ââ¬Å"guessworkâ⬠reports to higher management. This is due sales managers inability to recognize sales reports from their agents and therefore go to higher management for support. In a related survey, 100% of the sales managers submit their reports but the apparently wrong information submitted by the sales managers may have led management to misread the market and come up with ineffective strategies to augment company sales. 3.2.2 Recommendations: People Bridge has come up with several solutions have been found to fix these problems. These include: Employing a free web-based CRM and make it compulsory for the sales team to use. Coach higher management on how to use the CRM to monitor all sales activity. By doing this we hope to encourage the sales agents and managers to do their reports. Conduct training to all necessary personnel on how to use the CRM. Conduct refresher sales training for existing sales agents focusing on the importance of reports. Conduct data analysis training for sales managers. Purchase permanent CRM if necessary. 4.1 Recommendation Summary and Conclusion: Our recommendationspredominantly focus on the sales managers and how to bring them up to the competency level FH requires. Complementary trainings and coaching needs to be scheduled for higher management and the sales agents in order to support the activities for the sales managers and get the business back on track. We have divided the recommendations as follows: Analyse Conduct an in-depth analysis of the sales managers managerial skills, reporting habits and attitudes to determine proper courses of actions. Trainings, Workshops and Coaching This is to arm all necessary personnel with proper skills, habits and attitudes to ensure every employee is equipped to perform their task. Software Application (CRM) This is to create a quick, effective and easy reporting environment that higher management can utilize to monitor what transpires in the sales department. It is apparent that the main problem is the inability of sales managers to communicate and lead their teams. Therefore, it is imperative that we train the sales managers immediately and that the avenues of communications (CRM, meetings, etc.) be utilized properly. By doing this, we will be able to regain your ââ¬Å"lost groundâ⬠in sales.

An Ounce Of Cure :: essays research papers
As the old saying goes, ââ¬Å"an ounce of cure is worth a pound of preventionâ⬠. I believe that this is what the author thought of when choosing the title for this story. There is a lot of wisdom found in these words that is usually only realized after the fact. This reminds me of another old saying that I think also applies to this story ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Hindsight is twenty-twentyâ⬠. How many times have we thought, ââ¬Å"if only I knew then what I know nowâ⬠? Would we have made the same choices? This question is difficult to answer since we cannot change the past. This story is about a teenage girl, whose first heartbreak leads to some rather unfortunate events. She tells us about her first love and her first kiss. ââ¬Å"Two months, and a few amatory stages later, he droppedâ⬠her for a girl who was performing opposite him in a school play. Watching him with the other girl was more than she could bear and the night she went to see the play was ââ¬Å"the beginning of months of real, if more or less self-inflicted, miseryâ⬠for her. While baby-sitting one night, she made the fatal mistake of getting drunk. She then calls her best friend, who shows up with another girl and several boys, to help her with her situation. Before she was able to cover up the ill-fated events, the couple returned home unexpectedly. She then had to explain what happened to her mother. Her mother then buys a bottle of Scotch and goes to see the couple to discuss her daughterââ¬â¢s actions. She was forbidden to date again until she turned sixteen and she ha d to pay for the bottle out of her baby-sitting money. Her reputation suffered greatly until the fall, when another girl did something even more scandalous and people forgot about her. In the end, she discovered that she was completely over the boy and she learned a valuable lesson about how actions have consequences. I found this story very enjoyable to read. I felt that the story was well written and conveyed a realistic insight into what some teenage girls experience. I, having once been a teenager, can relate to the girl in the story. Although I didnââ¬â¢t get drunk, I still recall my first love and the crushing heartache I felt when he broke up with me. People deal with rejection and disappointment in different ways, and sometimes we can use poor judgment. Columbian Exchange Frq Essay
The Aztecs and Incas were extremely affluent with precious metals, and the Spanish were able to bring much of those riches back to Europe , boosting the economy by adding more wealth . Even the furs of the North American animals were extremely valuable back in Europe for fashion purposes, so the trading of furs became highly profitable . The economic system of mercantilism aided this influx of wealth; the newly prosperous nations gained maximum capital from their trading by establishing colonies. In mercantilism, the European nations exported much more than they imported to increase the wealth of the nation. The newfound wealth of the Americas affected the upper and middle classes, who benefited from the profits. Governments used the money to sponsor research in industry and to build up their militaries . The flourishing economy led to improved technology and militaries, thus causing a significant change in European society. Another major product of the Columbian Exchange was the introduction of new crops and animals from the Americas. The most important crop brought to Europe was the potato. The potato was a staple, since it provided key essential nutrients. Thus, it provided a reliable source of nutrients to sustain peasants during grain shortages, allowing for a population increase. The potatoââ¬â¢s versatility led to its expansion, and it became a major food source for Ireland, Scotland, and Germany. It was more efficient to grow than the European wheat, yielding more crops per acre, meaning the potato would feed more people than wheat given a limited amount of land. The efficiency also contributed to a population increase. The potato became part of European food so much so that it eventually became known as the food of the poor. Other crops besides the potato also were integrated into the European diet, including maize, tomatoes, peppers, and chocolate, to a lesser extent. The North American turkeys also became part of the European diet . In addition, Columbian Exchange created the slave trade which heavily influenced Europe. In the New World, certain crops such as cotton, sugarcane, and tobacco were cultivated. However, these crops require a great deal of labor and attention in order to grow in mass quantity , since the harvesting a large amount of those crops required manual labor . The first Spanish conquistadors enslaved the native population or used an encomienda to meet those labor needs. However, the Spanish also sent missionaries to the New World to convert the natives to Catholicism, thus many of the natives converted; and since it was not acceptable to enslave a Catholic, the European nations looked to Africa to provide the need for labor. Slaves were sent from Africa to the New World and Europe. Eventually, many wealthy households in Europe had at least one slave. Owning a slave became a sign of money and power .

Plato and Aristotle: An Analysis Essay
Determining the best form of political association was important to the ancient Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle, and each of them expressed his opinion in important works such as the Republic and Politics. In explaining, comparing, and contrasting the political philosophies of Plato and Aristotle, it is evident that each of them shared the same goal of identifying and promoting the best form of political government. They also shared in common the same philosophy regarding the origins of a political state. The State arises, Plato says through Socrates in the Republic, ââ¬Å"out of the needs of mankind. â⬠(Plato) Aristotle agrees, and declares that the state is a political partnership that exists for purposes of self-sufficiency as well as for the sake of living well. In other words, the State exists in order to provide for the well-being of its citizens. Aristotle expresses this in Politics when he argues, ââ¬Å"the good life is the purpose of the city-state. â⬠(Aristotle) Furthermore, both Aristotle and Plato agreed that Man is by nature a political animal, because he has the ability to express his thoughts about justice. Their respective analyses reflected their respect for justice, and their elevation of it to the highest priority. In the Republic, Plato defines just political rule as a system in which each interest is satisfied to the proper extent and everyone has what is theirs. The philosophers have the knowledge they want; the warriors have the honors they want; and the commoners have the goods and pleasures they want, under the enlightened guidance of philosophers and warriors. The methods of Aristotle and Plato were similar in many ways. They both utilized logic, evaluations of contemporary politics, and lengthy comparisons of various types of political rule to arrive at their conclusions. As citizens of ancient Greece, they both shared much the same outlook on society, religion, morality, and politics. They also shared similar historical perspectives, and their perceptions of contemporary events were formed through the same philosophical context. One of the contrasts between their methods is that Plato used analogies to make his points. He examined a political state by comparing the state with the human soul. Unlike Aristotle, he also used a style of approach in which he made his points through dialogues involving Socrates. He also designed an ideal state run by people he referred to as ââ¬Å"The Guardiansâ⬠which differed from Aristotleââ¬â¢s approach in Politics, in which style and form more closely resembled an essay or monologue. In Politics, Aristotle emphasized that correct political rule involves pursuing policies which are to the common advantage of the most people. Aristotle reasoned that rulers who placed their own interests above everyone elseââ¬â¢s had no political legitimacy, for their tyranny brought suffering upon their own people. Aristotle described the best forms of political rule as kingship, aristocracy and polity, and described the worst forms as tyranny, oligarchy and democracy. Plato was also harshly critical of tyranny, and described it in the Republic as, ââ¬Å"not a matter of minor theft and violence, but of wholesale plunder, sacred and profane, private or public. â⬠(Plato) Both menââ¬â¢s methods involved a comprehensive analysis of the consequences of each form of rule. Aristotle criticized Democracy because its consequences were rule by the multitude, which causes injustice. He criticized Oligarchy because its consequences were rule by the wealthy, which also causes injustice; and he criticized Tyranny because its consequences were dictatorship, which again causes injustice. In terms of the merits of the citizenry, Aristotle notes that the people may collectively be the best judges of certain things, so it is justified for them to take part in deliberations. But like Plato, he feels that the common people are not qualified to share in the highest offices. Both Plato and Aristotle also agree that laws need to be made in accordance with the regime, and agree that the more just a ruler is, the more just the laws will be. Essentially, both Aristotle and Plato asserted that the goal of politics should be justice. One difference between them is that Plato believed that the best claim to rule was education and virtue, although he conceded that there is also a claim to rule based on wealth and on numbers. Another difference is that Aristotle emphasized that the most important task for a leader was to be a lawgiver, and to frame the appropriate constitution for the city-state. In Aristotleââ¬â¢s system, it was the leaderââ¬â¢s duty to provide enduring laws, customs, and institutions for the citizens. According to Aristotle, once the constitution was in place, the ruler needed to take the necessary steps to maintain it, to implement reforms when he considered them necessary, and to guard against any subversion of the political system. Aristotleââ¬â¢s emphasis on a constitution sets him apart from Plato, who considered philosopher kingship the best form of political rule. Aristotle described a constitution as ââ¬Å"a certain ordering of the inhabitants of the city-state,â⬠and as ââ¬Å"the way of lifeâ⬠of the citizens. (Aristotle) He also speaks of the constitution of a community as ââ¬Å"the form of the compoundâ⬠and argues that whether the community is the same over time depends on whether it has the same constitution. (Aristotle) It should be noted that despite the fact that Aristotleââ¬â¢s political views were influenced by Plato, he was very critical of the ideal city-state set forth in Platoââ¬â¢s Republic. He based his criticism on the grounds that Platoââ¬â¢s ideal city-state overvalued political unity, embraced a system of communism that was impractical and inimical to human nature, and neglected the happiness of the individual citizens. In contrast, in Aristotleââ¬â¢s view of the ideal State each and every citizen would possess moral virtue and the equipment to carry it out in practice, and thereby attain a life of excellence and complete happiness. All of the citizens would hold political office and possess private property because ââ¬Å"one should call the city-state happy not by looking at a part of it but at all the citizens. â⬠(Aristotle) In conclusion, the ancient Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle were both concerned with identifying and promoting the best form of political association. In works such as the Republic and Politics, they used similar methods of analysis to evaluate the best form of political rule. For Aristotle, the best form of political rule corresponded to the best way of life for a human being. Since the best way of life is living nobly and according to virtue, the best political form of rule is the one which promotes this kind of life. For Plato, the best form of political rule was Aristocracy, for it involves rule by the best people in the political community. Bibliography Aristotle. Politics. New York: Dover Publications, 2000. Avoiding Plagiarism when Writing Essays
Avoiding Plagiarism when Writing Essays There are different essay that one can write. When the teachers in the schools give the students the essay assignments they expect that the students will do their research and they hand over work free from plagiarism as well as best written essays. The teachers will definitely give penalties to those students who will not adhere to these warnings. In some of the schools the teachers will cancel the work and the students will have to repeat the paper. Others if it was a research, then the teachers will expel the students if they have repeated the same mistake. Therefore, avoiding plagiarism when writing essays is necessary for all the students to avoid failing in the exams. This is why the students are very keen in the classes as the teachers teach. They do not want to fail in the exams or even get expelled from the schools. They seek help from those that understand how to do free essays from plagiarism. The students should thereby learn how to read articles and use their won words to avoid plagiarism. Reading the articles and coming up with their own writings will show how original they are. They should write the essays using the common knowledge that they have. Even the small things that they think they should not ignore them but use them in their writing. This way they will not only produce essays without plagiarism but they will also manage to produce the best essays. On the other hand since the teachers want the best essays the students should be able to give organized work to the teachers. An organized essay will capture the teacherââ¬â¢s attention and even if the student has not written all correct things the teacher will at least award the student some marks. On the other hand if the student writes disorganized work there will be a possibility that even if he has written correct information the teacher will not be interested in its reading and will end up not marking the work but just guess the marks that he will award the student. This is the reason as to why the teachers in the classes will never get tired of asking the students to produce organized work. Another thing that the teachers want in the essay is that they want the students to give clean work. This is because if the student just wrote an essay and after every paragraph there is a cancelled line, then he will not be able to go through the work. Therefore the students should ensure that they do not give work that has been cancelled too much for marking. They should either avoid cancelling or the transfer the work into another clean page. This is all that the teachers want form the students. Our essay writing company will help you avoid plagiarism in writing essays by means of providing students with custom written papers.
